Flooded …

Among the thousands of crap “pieces of art” that you can find on dA or deviantART, you can discover amazing deviations from really talented people. One of them is Julia (aka night-fate) from the US. The series of photo manipulations that are shown here present a “flooded” version of world famous monuments and places of interest. It’s how Julia sees the future, or simpler how she expresses her creativity. Anyway, enjoy…

Parthenon, Athens

Statue Of Liberty, New York

Canary Wharf, London

Coliseum, Rome

Eiffel Tower, Paris

    > Among the thousands of crap “pieces of art” …

There are not crap pieces of art. Art is art. Using your own logic, your own photos are crap for some people and Julia’s (aka night-fate) art is also crap for some others.

Just say that you like these photos a lot, so you’re recommending viewing them. Avoiding bad criticism for other people is more professional.
Crap or not crap, the only certain thing is that you’re not the one to judge :)

    @ DJ Art:

OF COURSE I don’t believe that everything that is being published to an “online artistic community” is by default considered art! And I don’t refer to the majority of deviations as “crap”. I refer to those “deviations” that are simple screenshots or to those that are published to the “photomanipulation” category because a sepia filter has been applied to the whole picture or to those…. … endless examples! Just browse the dA categories and see for yourself.

Anyway, that was not the point of this post…I was just happy that I saw something truly good in terms of idea and implementation!

After all, everyone can judge what is art and what is not according to his/her criteria! Art is what we consider to be art. And what’s the most appropriate place to express that than my own personal blog?

Antidrasi stin antidrasi eisa re file… pou tha mou peis tora na min krino kiolas! eleos opos leei kai enas allos! mmmmmm :)

And what IS considered as Art ? What should be considered as Art ? Who is going to define Art ? Who is to say that a sepia filter over a simple photo is not Art ? Where does Creativity stop and where does “Photoshop Manipulation Turning craps into Hollywood god-like creations for Commercial puproses” begin and where does Art get placed in all this, in the middle ?

Every person can produce artistic content the way he/she feels like it. Then it may become popular Art or non-popular. There is no good or bad Art. If you’re talking about off-topic content found in dA’s pages that has nothing to do with art, this is another thing. But if someone uploads a photo which cannot compete someone else’s super master photoshop skills, you cannot call the other guy “crap”, FFS !!!

I am not going to argue whether or not the presented work is art! Personally, compared to this http://www.deviantart.com/deviation/58290235/ the above work, is more than art! Anyway, my point is different and what I am saying is that: If you have a blog is like owning a media where no more control on information exists. If the owner of the blog wants to say the word ‘crap’ he has the absolute right to do it and i am sorry but the only thing you can do is either argue or not to his opinion…He gives you this option by commenting! It’s his blog not yours! These are the new rules of the information era!

Sorry, I can’t help but argue. The above deviation you posted is ONTOPIC for the DeviantArt Portal!!! It’s marked as Photography > Photojournalism > Public Gatherings & Events, and it sure is exactly that. So no, it’s not “less art” than Photomanipulation, it’s just a different category. I won’t disagree about writing whatever you want on a owned blog, that’s what it is about. I’m just happy commenting :-P :-P my different points of view on the use of “crap” :)

We do not study the suitability of a piece of art to a category. The issue is the quality!

I conclude then that there are different levels of quality when it comes to the realization of art…Among these, are mine and yours…In no way I could compare the two deviations. I insist to the word crap :-)

    Thnx!
